Hey,
is there a way to change the path where GTA SA is saving the savegames?
So normally it is something like this:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files

Is there a way to change it to this for examlpe?
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files Custom

Or move it inside the game directory?

It could be stored in the data folder, or, for example save folder.

But, for some reason exe can't create this folder, so you should create it manually and move gta_sa.set and other things from documents.
Here is what i have:

Changing "GTA San Andreas User Files" to different name is more reliable, since game IS capable of creating it then.

I really like it when the game is a little more 'portable' by not beeing dependant on the registry.
The "Gallery" folder works - Screenshots are getting saved there after it has been created manually.

Though, the "user tracks" folder seems to not be scanned by the game anymore.
Did you get this working aswell, ThirteenAG?

I didn't use user tracks since i've made a cleo mp3 player with a lot of radio stations, so, i didn't even knew it's not working until now.

SA is perfectly portable - the registry entry it uses isn't exclusive to San Andreas.

By saying "a little more 'portable'", I meant transporting only a single folder without the need to transport settings files seperatly to the save path.
I just don't like it when games store stuff in my user directory. It would make sense if several people were using my PC.

I don't really need user tracks either (I'm a bad DJ compared to SA's very well selected soundtrack) but it would be nice if the feature wouldn't disappear by not using the registry to select the user files path.

I've found that tool too yesterday when I was searching for the topic that made me using this exe hack some while ago. It explains how to fix an issue about game save failures which happens to windows users if they have some special characters in thier account name.

The sollution was to edit the .exe like already said, but actually also creating this alternate entry in the registry.
(I prefered to pointing it to nowhere so it saved in 'data')

Does anyone know if xmen's tool is doing the same or what it maybe does instead?
