I have reported many topics but still the action for removal of the topics is very slow. .No offence but you should delete or ban the bot accounts.. And that's what we do, we bin the topics and delete/ban the accounts. Problem is they come back with different random usernames, emails, IP addresses, which makes it almost impossible for us to stop it completely. |

They're easily cracked by bots it would seem and if they fail, they just repeatedly process the registration. The regular GD captcha seemed more effective at first. The only way to get rid of them from this site for sure is to use a security unique to this site. No bot is attacking this site particularly, but rather all IPB boards which share the design they are familiar with. -------------------- | CLEO 4.3.22 | A?i?a?o?3D | UI SDK | Black Market Mod 1.0.1 | GInput 0.3 | Cheat Keyboard | Tactile Cheat Activation | Stream Ini Extender 0.7 | SuperVars | ScrDebug | Vigilante Justice: San Andreas

Still some work for you admins and not nice for new users to register as it takes time. -------------------- |

Make a change in ACP so that no new user is allowed to post any link for one week..The bots mainly wait for some mins. to spam the site with their advertisement so when they won't be allowed to do so they won't be spamming..& believe me it has helped my site to keep spam bots away..I used a similar function..Although it was a bit different.. but you can try this.. And I have one more idea..which is about an affiliates portal widget.. -------------------- |

I delete them all, but the ones that have already spammed don't spam again, so it really makes little difference either way. The problem is stopping new bots coming in. QUOTE 2. No such option exists in the ACP. And I had an idea to add additional posting security to members who weren't manually verified by an admin, but I want to try my additional registration security first, because no site needs hundreds of fake accounts just sitting there doing nothing. As I've said, any security measure I can take requires me to finish the next update, which is on my computer, which will take a while to get access to. For now, the process is just to delete topics and bot accounts until I get that sorted. -------------------- | CLEO 4.3.22 | A?i?a?o?3D | UI SDK | Black Market Mod 1.0.1 | GInput 0.3 | Cheat Keyboard | Tactile Cheat Activation | Stream Ini Extender 0.7 | SuperVars | ScrDebug | Vigilante Justice: San Andreas

There's no use in keeping a list of bots that visited this site. And the bots aren't that big of an annoyance for a regular member anyway. I simply ignore the general section, since 99% of all new post are from bots there. |

Thanks for nuking my joke. @arijitsen The mods ban the bots and delete their topic(s). There's no use in keeping a list of bots that visited this site. Sometimes we just delete the bot accounts, and based on what I have seen, I contend that 50% of posts in the general section come from The Question Topic and Word Association Topic. -------------------- |

In motus... Posts: 361 From: Portugal Joined: 28-May 09 | We simply do delete the bot accounts and the associated topics, plus ban their email mask and in severe cases their domain if it's not that common. |
