I've been doing a lot of thinking about future GTA's and how GTA has been going so far. Although we are probably safe to believe that the old Vice City/San Andreas game engine is in the past and it's all taken over by the new GTA IV engine, I can't help shake off the feeling that Rockstar may return with a game in that engine, probably a sequel to San Andreas.

At first I thought there was no chance. Rockstar wouldn't go backwards, would they? But then I recalled something that I heard of after the announcement of GTA IV... GTA IV was meant to be a sequel to GTA III, not to Vice City or San Andreas. So unlike many would believe, this is how the GTA Series should be layed out...

GTA III > GTA IV
Vice City > San Andreas

You think? It really makes more sense than 5 GTA games being released and then them releasing a GTA IV... Which defies the laws of numbers.

And since so many people loved San Andreas, it's hard for a company to resist making a follow-up.

Although it is unlikely that they will release another game with a VC/SA engine, it's not an impossibility. And taking this new thought into place, it's no longer a ridiculous thought.

What d'yeh think?

I dunno bro, I feel that they are gonna go back to SA one day but not yet. I think they are waitin on that one for a few reasons. !. I think they will wait until they have mastered creatin these next gen games that way SA will be the blow out game that it was on PS2.

I think with LCS and VCS they were really hopin for the PSP to catch fire more than it did, and they might have even been thinkin about doin a SAS even. But thats just what I think who knows its R* they do whatever the fuk they want lol.

I was thinking they would make a sequel to Vice City first because the III Era games followed the same pattern and so many people are looking forward to that. It would also build up the hype for a San Andreas in the IV engine after VC. smile.gif

Maybe we'll get lucky with a version of London in the IV engine. rolleyes.gif

My ideas on it? SIMPLE

GTA 3 was the main game in that era right?

Why not have have GTA 4 but what happens during/before/after that time in a new Vice City/ San Andreas game?

Or will it be a GTA 5 since GTA 4 had 2 DLCs?? Make it GTA 5:Chronicles ((or some sh*t)) Of Vice city?

Then after that they do it AGAIN except in SAN ANDREAS!!!! Its a simple ass formula they seem to be applying to their series.

I keep on wondering about the named places in the old GTA1/2 games... So far we've had Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas, all of which where in one of those games... So maybe one of them will pop back up.

At the moment, there is no actual pattern in the games. We've had 4 games released that are relevant to what GTA is now (excluding the money-earning alternative console games) III,VC,SA,IV... There's no real "pattern" there... The next game is what would really define the pattern, if there is one.

I still believe we should think less "III Era" and "IV Era" and more like the pattern I posted above.

Vice City > San Andreas > Chinatown Wars?
GTA 1 > GTA 2 > GTA III > GTA IV

Rockstar have never said anything about there being era's... If VC and SA should be grouped with III, it would make them: Grand Theft Auto III: Vice City and GTA III: San Andreas... But that makes VC and SA sequels to III, when IV is the sequel to III...

Confusing, eh?

Possible but not so likely. I think that a sequel just isn't that likely. GTA has gone so far because it's someone new every time, so the same story doesn't get old. I guess if it's not broke don't fix it, but who knows. I'm sure Rockstar could pull it off I just don't think they will.
